Build Off Challenge #71 - "Mini Game"

Hi guys,

It's awesome to see how creative you guys were during this challenge! We had a blast trying all your games out, so thanks in advance for that! :D
Now let's move onto the most favourite game this buildoff:

"Iceboat" by CreeperX3sssBOOM
Game concept: You are in a boat on ice and have to shoot out the other players.

The arena could have been more buildwise, but the concept is great, it's a lot of fun to glide over the ice in a boat: you go very fast but with little control. We even made tagteams of 2 players in a boat to double the fun.
Lepharian has the idea of making a race track based of your game principle and I really want to turn it into a large arena/maze, so we'll make good use of your idea! :D (I cannot forsee atm when Lepharian and myself will have the time to make this, so bear with us ;) )

Now for the rest of the fun games! (in alphabetical order)

“JUMPAKAZOO!” by CosmicDonut
Game concept: Parkours game with slime blocks and redstone (and loads of lava).

What makes this parkours a lot of fun is the use of slime blocks, they give you a big boost but also makes controlling the jumps a lot harder, good job!
The green works well with the orange of the lava and all the redstone is neatly packed away and a big plus for making the off button since this would have the potential of a lagmachine for sure :)

“The Towers” by _EmilyHurricane_
Game concept: Build to the top as fast as you can with random provided blocks.

This was fun also, feels like it could be polished a bit more by automating it somehow (my redstone skills are insufficient but I'm sure others can work that out), but it was fun to race to the top when we played with 4 players.
One thing we really felt was lacking was some form of buzzer for the first one to reach the top. And fireworks according to Pook: "Everything’s better with fireworks!". It's a very colourful happy build which works well with the building principle, great job!

“Triple Jump” (this build was titleless, so I gave it one) by KidAwesomeTwo
Game concept: Jump game

This was the hardest one by far, none of us could jump all 3 and make it to the other side, one player did manage to get to the other side by jumping 2 blocks and then over. It feels a little unfinished still, also because it was titleless and not fully build. We would have loved an 'off' button for the redstone, but maybe that was something that was still in the making.

“Temple of Doom!” by Koeki
Game concept: Jumpy Puzzler

This game is also unfinished, but we could see what the idea was. The mossy cobblestone works well for this type of game and we can see this game being a lot of fun if it was finished and on a much larger scale (think dungeon size)!

“Lamp Lighters” by _SansBlueberry_
Game concept: Musical Chair with lamps

We all felt it needs a lil more to be a full game, the way you are randomizing is awesome and clever, but it could have used some more motion to really feel like a finished game.
For example: you could have had a disco floor with lamps and people would have to run to the lamps after pressing the button (with timer), just to get a little more action in. Good try tho!

“Bunny Brawl” by YellowPie84
Game concept: Team carrot smacking

We all loved the look of this game, it's so sweet, cute and vibrant! The game itself was not worked out completely we feel, during walking around you break a lot of your own carrots and we were unsure on how to drop our carrots (did it have a counter for each team?)
Another thing we loved is that it's a farming game! A very different concept and that is refreshing.

You guys have given us a lot of inspiration, so we might end up using some of your ideas (whenever we find the time to make more mini-games for the server!) Thanks everybody for participating and cya next buildoff!

Build Off Challenge #70 - "Hidden Treasure Room"

Oh wow, what a great look of builds all around :)
First off: Due to Kong being a bit of messyhead with her wedding next week we have no pictures of the builds other than the favourite this week, I'm very sorry!

Let's get into it!
Our favourite this week is:
"“The Book Case” by HoiImSYDNEH and CANADIAN_PIE
Looks like you have put a lot of thought in this build, even before starting the build. The Book Case itself looks great, the way all the books are different sizes and positioned in different ways looks good! Some of the titles really cracked us up :D The figure looks good, is nicely balanced. We like the treasure chest in the back with the real treasure in it very suiting to the build! Good job guys :)

Our other (photographless) finished builds this week are (in alphabetical order):
“Lara Croft Jumping for Treasure” by CreeperX3
It’s 2 builds in one, it’s different and that's good. On the one hand we have a parkour track (would have been nice if that would lead us somewhere) and on the other we have a build. The action in Lara is great. We're hoping she makes it and doesn’t end up like the skellie at the bottom! Only tip is that Lara could have used some hair :P

“The Secret Staff” by _SansBlueberry_
It’s a nice set dressed overview, it’s def an alchemy station, it’s nice to see someone take the theme into a different direction.
The spell is very cool, we can see the motion in it. The treasure box is empty however, did the spell take the loot already?

“Treasure in the Attic” by TheBlueNinjaz
This is a nice build! I like the fact it’s a gloomy dark attic until you take a night-vision potion and can go explore, with the scale being as it is you really feel like a mice exploring all the nooks and cranny's. It's great!

“Completely Inconspicious Waterfall” by YellowPie84
This build fits this theme perfectly, it’s cute, well hidden, has treasure and a trap you have to turn off.
The only downside is that it would have been greater if it was a bit more elaborate, but good build!

We also counted 3 unfinished/unnamed builds, so thanks for participating everyone and we hope to see you next buildoff!

Home on the Range - Creeperville

We've opened up a brand new world for anyone and everyone! This world is heavily focused on the community and living together. The world is for homes, shops, and community farms, gardens, and ranches. There is no limit on how many players can live and build together, so feel free to help and build with your friends! A small town center has been established, but you can build anywhere in the world you'd like. You can bring in supplies from Sihnon and Exploration.

There are a few things to know about this world:
  • Overall server rules still apply. No "leaders", or "mayors" of the town area.
  • There is currently a 1000x1000 border.
  • While building with friends is encouraged, griefing is still not allowed.
  • Put a sign on your home saying who lives there!

You can access this world by typing "/cv" in chat.

Abandoned Village - A Ghastly Getaway

Long ago, when the very first settlers came to the world of Sihnon, a small village was discovered atop a hilltop nearby our spawn settlement. The gate to this village was sealed off, but the sounds of voices, cheering, and party happenings could be heard from beyond the walls. For some reason, it seems the gate has opened! Whether or not this serves as a welcome invitation is up to you...

Build Off Challenge #69 - "Motion"

Ooooh what a nice selection of different builds, love it!

Let's get to the review!

Our favourite this theme is:
“Late” by _SansBlueberry_
The motion is strong in this one! We love the arc of the body, the way the arms and legs extend and the hair flies out behind, very dynamic!
We can definitely see she is in a hurry to get somewhere!

And now for the rest of the finished builds (in alphabetical order):
“Escape into the Alleys” by AMinecraftMaster
It fits the Motion theme very well! We love how the glass breaks and shatters outwards. The figure is really flying through!
Tip: it would have been nice to have a lil more background/surrounding and the door feels a bit small proportional, but great build otherwise! :)

“Motion Crayons” by Chiprock2
The crayons look great and the red one exploding is very well done. Looks awesome!
We are a bit confused about the position of the ball/bullet. Not sure how it would get there without touching the other crayons. ;)

“The USS Enterprise at High-Warp” by CosmicDonut
What a nice surprise, space motion! Cool! You can tell it is in motion. Like it’s about to poooof! and disappear!
Even tho it’s not big, you can see that it’s the Enterprise, good job on that.
Love the speed lines, it’s very well executed overall.

“Ride around the Blablasorus” by CreeperX3
It's a fun ride that ends where it starts too. The pillars look fancy and make the build more elegant. Good job :)
Tip: The dino bone theme could be even more awesome if it were expanded. More bones lying around or additional dinos instead of just the one?

“Summer Bike Ride” by _EmilyHurricane_
Another beautiful detailed build, very well planned out, very nice execution.
Lots of motion with the hair and the flowers falling out the back! Great job :)

“Dance Class” by Kittenz_
Cute ballerina! Built very nicely! It’s very elegant, love the tutu :D
The jukebox makes a nice contrast with the figure.
Tip: Since you picked a dance move, you could have tried one that is a bit more dynamic, but very nice build overall! :)

“The Box of Water” by YellowPie84
We love this water ride, endless motion \o/ Love that you came up with this idea and it works very well too!
Tip: The outside box is a bit bland, you could have done more with that :)

We have 2 builds unfinished/not signed:
“Windmill” by TJNinja & Jomo, too bad it was unfinished, showed good potential!
“Blue Rollercoaster” by UnicornPink123, nice ride so far, but cannot tell if it is finished, also because it did not have a sign.

Thanks so much for participating \o/ Cya next buildoff!
