==== THE BATTLE PLAN ====
The theme is "You Are the Monster": See http://ludumdare.com/

What we are building:

A reverse-Pokemon game. You play a little monster. There is a village + surrounds, and the kids have been catching your other monster friends to keep as pets. Your job is to sneak around the village and rescue your friends. They are kept in cages, and you have to find keys to unlock them. It's basically a cutesy stealth game. If a villager spots you, they will alert the guards. If a guard spots you, you get caught. You can hide in tall grass.

To build:

1. Village
- Will be viewed from a top-town angle. Like: \\
- No interiors required - won't be going into any houses
- Patches of tall grass for our monster to hide in - guards can't see him/her in the tall grass
- Lots of places to sneak around - alleys, behind houses etc.
- Places to look for cage keys - flower pots, crates, barrels etc.
- Hoiw big?? Uhmmmm... we'll see :)

2. Villagers
- 5 male
- 5 female
- We will make a template for each to copy/paste and they can be decorated

- 1 Guard type, based on the template

3. Monsters
- 10 Types of monsters, all the same size as you
- Please do not copy any Pokemon!!

- Caught monsters will be in little bird cages, so we need a cage model too. The cages will be placed around town in front of the houses.

4. General
- We will pick 32 colours to build with and put them on a flat world
- All building must be done by midnight (GMT) on Sunday
- To get to the build world, use /ld

5. Main character
- A monster!
- Maybe in a male/female version?

Every once in a while, IndieSquish gets together on a weekend to participate in the Ludum Dare game jam. The aim is to make an entire game in 72 hours. Squishies build stuff on a separate creative world we provide, and the built items then get used in whatever the game is. It's always great fun and anyone can participate, no matter how good/bad a builder you think you are.

YAY \o/ It does fall in my work weekend again (like every year >.<) but this year I don't have to work! I'm free to help out and build the entire time :D

I might have the time to go and help but it's when I get together with my family 'cause me and my sister's birthday are close... So, we'll see what I can do about helping. But I hope to tag along with ya, would really be appreciated if I came, as I said I will try and help but it may take a bit for me to go on there and be able to build, help, etc. Hope to see you all of you Squishers who are participating!!

We will likely keep the build world open all of Saturday and Sunday, and we usually pick a concept that can accommodate many builders making things from small to big. So hey, if you have 20 minutes to spare, that's probably enough to make something. :)

I'm currently pondering on art styles, maybe we can do something different to our usual. One idea I have is that we build everything in 4 colours and make the game look like a GameBoy or something like that. Or a 16 colour NES style palette.

Not quite right yet, but am playing with the idea of creating something that looks like Gameboy graphics. This is one of the monsters from our previous entry.

Except now I am changing my mind. There was a Gameboy jam recently and I'm seeing loads of entries from it popping up in my Twitter feed.

Anyhoo, what I do want to do this time round is for us to work with a reduced palette of colours, maybe no more than 16, and focus on larger builds. Also toying a lot with using flat shading instead of a 3D look. But we can brainstorm Saturday morning (our morning). :)

Well, I found the DL link, and just put it on my Desktop. Loved it, only failed twice.
Cute little game, fun tune, that last house is a nightmare because that bridge is almost always swarming with guards, I think, can't quite tell ;) The first time, I didn't quite understand that the guards can still see you if they are close enough while you're in tall grass. The other time I lost was when a guard came out of no where while I was unlocking a friend... :(

And it was all designed through the folks here at Indiesquish :3 Thanks guys!
